about
Öykü Baştaş is a New York-based art director and object designer from Istanbul, Turkey, whose practice moves across fashion, image, and physical space. She worked at Rachel Comey for over two years, first on the branding team and later as Junior Art Director. During her time there, she helped shape the brand’s visual language by developing creative worlds across campaigns and content. Her work spanned concept development, on-set execution, social media direction, and campaign production, in close collaboration with photographers, stylists, and designers.
Alongside her design and art direction practice, Öykü is also an established fashion model. In 2017, she made history as the first Turkish model to walk for Gucci. Her other notable clients include Vogue US, i-D, AnOther Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar US, Schiaparelli, Burberry, Valentino, and Helmut Lang.
Her design foundation includes a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from Istanbul Bilgi University, as well as formative internships at influential New York studios including Crosby Studios and Julia Wagner Studio. In 2025, her object design, Diken Vase, was selected for the Formphilia exhibition at COR Studio in Paris.
